Latest company case about Custom Ceramic Rubber Steel Liner Project for an Overseas Industrial Customer

Custom Ceramic Rubber Steel Liner Project for an Overseas Industrial Customer

An overseas industrial customer required customized ceramic-rubber-steel wear liners for technical evaluation.

The project involved more than selecting wear-resistant ceramic. The customer needed a complete three-layer composite panel with reliable bonding, accurate dimensions, and secure mounting.

Hot vulcanization was a mandatory requirement. Cold adhesive bonding was not accepted.

Customer Requirements

The agreed technical specifications included:

  • 95% alumina ceramic for the wear-resistant surface
  • Rubber cushioning layer and steel backing
  • Consistent panel dimensions and overall thickness
  • Reliable bonding between ceramic, rubber and steel
  • Accurate mounting stud positions
  • Hot vulcanized composite construction

The main challenge was to meet these requirements in a finished liner panel suitable for further evaluation.

Our Solution: Controlled Hot Vulcanization

After reviewing the technical specifications, ELACERA arranged customized manufacturing.

The alumina ceramic tiles were positioned according to the required layout. The rubber and steel backing were then integrated through the hot vulcanization process.

Special attention was given to three areas:

Ceramic arrangement: Maintaining consistent tile placement and protecting panel edges.

Composite bonding: Controlling the ceramic-to-rubber and rubber-to-steel interfaces.

Mounting accuracy: Checking the finished dimensions and stud arrangement against the agreed requirements.

These details matter because a wear liner must fit the equipment and remain structurally sound during service.

Quality Inspection and Project Outcome

The completed panels underwent inspection before customer evaluation.

Quality checks covered:

  • Alumina ceramic properties
  • Rubber physical properties
  • Ceramic-to-rubber and rubber-to-steel bonding strength
  • Overall dimensions and layer thickness
  • Steel backing and mounting components

The documented inspection results met the specified sample acceptance requirements.

The project successfully reached the completed sample and inspection stage, providing the customer with customized composite liners for technical evaluation.

Long-term field performance was not part of the available inspection results.

What This Project Demonstrates

A ceramic rubber wear liner is only as reliable as its complete structure.

Ceramic provides abrasion resistance. Rubber supports the ceramic layer, while steel backing enables mechanical installation.

However, material selection alone is not enough. Bonding quality, dimensional accuracy, and mounting details also require careful control.

This project highlights ELACERA's experience in coordinating custom manufacturing and quality inspection for hot-vulcanized ceramic rubber steel liners.
