What Is The Difference Between Different Shapes Of Wear-resistant Ceramic Sheets? How To Choose?

Latest company news about What Is The Difference Between Different Shapes Of Wear-resistant Ceramic Sheets? How To Choose?

As an important part of the wear-resistant field, wear-resistant ceramics are often used in wear-resistant and impact-resistant industrial environments. It is mainly used in heavy wear industries such as ports, mines, cement, lithium batteries, and steel.

Wear-resistant ceramic sheets come in a variety of shapes, including square, triangle, rhombus, hexagon, circle, and special shapes. Differences between these shapes can affect the function and installation of the ceramic sheet. In this article, we walk you through the article to understand the difference between the different shapes and how to choose the right ceramic.

The difference between wear-resistant ceramic sheets of different shapes is mainly reflected in four aspects: impact resistance, wear resistance, material viscosity, and installation difficulty.

Impact resistance

The impact resistance of alumina ceramics mainly depends on factors such as material properties, thickness, impact angle, etc. In the case of similar factors, the stress and strain distribution during the impact process may vary due to the shape of the ceramic, thus affecting its overall resistance. Fracture performance, resulting in a slightly different performance of the impact resistance of the material.

For wear-resistant ceramic sheets of the same material thickness, the circular ceramic sheet bears evenly distributed stress and are not easy to break, while the square and triangular ceramic sheets are easy to be shattered at the corners. In comparison, the impact resistance of circular ceramic sheets is Stronger than square and triangular ones.

Taking the ceramic-rubber composite liner as an example, when the triangular, square, and hexagonal ceramics are vulcanized, there are fewer gaps in the middle, less rubber on the surface, and weaker impact resistance. The circular ceramic has large gaps, more rubber on the surface, and strong impact resistance. Under the same conditions, the closer the circle, the stronger the impact resistance of the ceramic sheet, and vice versa.

Wear resistance

For ceramic composite liners, the more rubber on the surface, the stronger the impact resistance and the weaker the wear resistance. The surface of the circular ceramic sheet composite liner has more rubber and poor wear resistance, while the triangular and square ceramic sheets have high ceramic coverage and relatively strong wear resistance.

Viscosity to materials

The larger the gap between the ceramic sheets, the easier it is for materials to stick together, which may cause material hanging and blocking. Round ceramic sheets are easy to cause material blocking. Triangular and square ceramic sheets have fewer gaps and are not easy to block.

Difficulty of installation

The wear of the ceramic sheet mostly starts from the edge of the ceramic sheet, so to prolong the service life of the ceramic sheet and disperse the flow direction of the material, the method of staggered seam paste is usually used when pasting the porcelain. It is relatively easy to install square, triangular, and other regular-shaped ceramic sheets with straight edges, while it is more difficult to install round ceramic sheets, hexagonal ceramic sheets, and special-shaped ceramic sheets.

Choosing the right wear-resistant ceramic sheet depends on several factors. The first consideration is the shape and size of the wear area of the equipment. If the area is square or rectangular, square tiles are the best choice, and if curved or irregular, triangular, diamond, hexagonal, or round tiles may be more suitable. Triangular, square, and diamond-shaped ceramic sheets should be selected as much as possible in working conditions of greater wear and strong viscosity of the material station, and round ceramic sheets can be selected for working conditions of greater impact and less wear.
