Anti Ballistic Alumina Ceramics Armor With Bulletproof Layer

Product Description

Ceramic armor is bulletproof because of its high specific stiffness, high specific strength, and chemical inertness in many environments. Ceramics have better anti-ballistic performance than metal because metal materials will plastically deform and absorb energy when resisting the impact of the warhead, while ceramics will hardly produce plastic deformation, and the warhead will be passivated or even broken due to its own high strength and hardness characteristics.

Bulletproof principle

The ceramic armor adopts a bulletproof layer with a high-strength and high-modulus fiber composite board. When the high-speed projectile collides with the ceramic layer, the ceramic layer shatters or cracks and diffuses around the projectile impact point to consume most of the energy of the projectile. The modulus fiber composite board further dissipates the remaining energy of the projectile. Therefore, the application of advanced ceramics in armor systems is very attractive and has become a protective armor widely used in body armor, vehicles, aircraft, and other equipment.

The porosity of alumina bulletproof ceramics should be as low as possible to improve hardness and Young's modulus; and its hardness requirements are very high, which should be higher than the hardness of flying bullets; the speed of sound propagation in alumina ceramics indicates the impact surface of the ceramics The ability to dissipate energy, high sound velocity also indirectly indicates that the ceramic has good densification and low closed pores.

Product structure

The molecular formula of alumina is Al₂O₃. It has many isomorphous crystals, mainly 3 crystal forms, namely α-Al₂O₃, β-Al₂O₃, and γ-Al₂O₃. They have different structures and properties. Among them, α-Al₂O₃ has the most stable structure, also known as corundum. Al₂O₃ is almost completely converted into α-Al₂O₃ at high temperatures above 1300 °C. The main component of alumina bulletproof ceramics is it. Alumina ceramic bulletproof sheet, the alumina content is 99%, and the Rockwell hardness can reach 88. The product can withstand the pressure shock wave of a bullet.

Product advantages

1. High toughness: strong bearing capacity, uniform thickness, smooth surface, no burrs, easy to clean

2. Low water absorption: strict material selection, fine texture, low water absorption, and low density, so it is generally not necessary to dry before molding.

3. Good environmental resistance: it can withstand different high and low-temperature environments, and can also be used with different degrees of acid and alkali.

4. On-demand customization: the product is not easy to crack and deform during use, and can be customized to a variety of specifications to meet the diverse needs of customers

Product Features

99% alumina ballistic ceramic sheet has high hardness and wear resistance, high compressive strength, and excellent ballistic performance under high stress. It has high mechanical properties, especially fracture toughness, and resists the firing of bullets. Alumina ceramics are very suitable as bulletproof ceramics.

Product Specifications:

The existing size is 50*50*10 arc board, other specifications can be customized according to customer requirements

Is ceramic armor better than steel?

Ceramic armor is better than steel, although steel is strong, it weighs a lot. If the thickness of the steel plate is reduced to achieve the effect of reducing weight, the bulletproof effect cannot be effectively achieved. Ceramic armor is better than metal, because metal materials will plastically deform and absorb energy when resisting the impact of the warhead, while ceramics will hardly produce plastic deformation, and the warhead will be passivated or even broken due to its own high strength and hardness characteristics.

What is ceramic armor made of?

Bulletproof ceramic armor, also known as a bulletproof vest, bulletproof vest, bulletproof vest, bulletproof clothing, etc., is mainly composed of a jacket and a bulletproof layer. The jacket is usually made of chemical fiber fabrics, and the bulletproof layer is a single or composite protective structure composed of alumina ceramics.

Is ceramic good for armor?

Ceramics are suitable for armor because they are highly hard and have a much lower specific gravity than bulletproof steel. When facing ballistic impact, the hardness of the ceramic functions to shatter the projectile into multiple smaller fragments. The fragmentation of the ceramic further dissipates its kinetic energy. Afterwards, the bullet‑proof fiberboard behind the ceramic absorbs these small‑fragment threats to achieve the protective effect.

Hunan Yibeinuo New Material Co., Ltd. specializes in customizing bulletproof armor, which is tailored according to different customer specifications. Welcome new and old customers to consult. The bulletproof armor is durable and has passed quality certification to ensure product quality.
